Take the U out of a House
December 3, 2007 by Andy CapellutoI just love working with Real Estate Professionals! They spend a size-able part of each day touring through other people’s homes. Could this be the reason that collectively agents have the most fabulous sense of humor? House hunters are naturally curious. What we aiming for when staging a house is a smooth tour of the dwelling with no distractions. Thanks to the never ending wisdom shared by agents in my classes the list of ways to depersonalize a home seems endless………
1. Typically we ask sellers to remove photographs, schedules, and anything personal or significant attached to the notice board![]()
2. Bank and credit card statements as well as passwords and security codes that might fall into the wrong hands if left in view of the inquisitive buyer.![]()
3. Valuables like jewelry, collectible silver and coin collections.![]()
4. Religious icons and artifacts.![]()
5. Collections like beer cans, ceramic chickens and someone even mentioned Playboy magazines in the bathroom.![]()
6. Animal trophies, usually just the head and horns attached to the wall.![]()
7. Prescription drugs; do you really want the neighbors to know about your hemorrhoids or bad rash?![]()
8. Guns and weapons.![]()
9. Nude Art on the walls.![]()
10. Political material.![]()
And as the list continues, so does the amusement and the hilarity that goes with it. So do you have anything to add to the list?
