Don't Get Into Real Estate Unless You Mean It!
March 1, 2007 by Valleri CrabtreeIf you are considering a career in real estate because of the flexibility, the time off that you'll be able to enjoy, the ability to set your own hours and work when you want to...STOP!"? You'll eventually get to this point only if you work like crazy the first three or four years that you are in the business.
It's important to weigh your commitment to this new career."? Are you willing to prospect consistently and continually"?? Can you take rejection, brush yourself off, and start again"?? Are you well-organized or willing to become well-organized"?? Are you a fanatic about customer service and willing to spend whatever time and energy it takes to provide the very best service at all times"?? Are you ready to work nights and weekends to build your business?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then you may be ready to pursue a career in real estate."?But before you invest your time and money into education and training, be sure that you know yourself- not only what you are capable of doing but what you are willing to do."? If you think that real estate sales is the route to easy riches, think again."?
If you work very hard and very smart, you will develop a referral business after a few years."? Only then should you feel that you can take a vacation, build flexibility into your schedule, and have the leisure time that you have dreamed about."? Do this too soon and your real estate career will crash!
The point is not to discourage you from a career in real estate."? The point is to suggest a self-examination of yourself and your commitment before entering into this great field."? If you select wisely, you'll reap great benefits.
