Are Those Meteors I See Above Us?
April 15, 2006 by Michael KrisaFor those of you that have been too busy being busy to notice, real estate as we know it is changing! The signs are all around us and yet few seem to see.
"... we have evolved from brokers into landlords and if this market changes and agents start to leave - we will be the custodians of empty buildings and office furniture."
1) Recent C.A.R conference - some brokers described the atmosphere as one of fear: "...the most prolific period in real estate in recorded history and many Brokerages Are Not Making A Profit""
2) Agents report that the competition is fierce and commission cutting is rampant
3) More non real estate companies are stepping in on-line capturing leads upstream and selling them back to agents
4) Google is positioning itself to be it's own MLS
5) New innovative commission models are springing up daily
6) Commissions are under attack from the public, the media and amongst one another.
Boys and girls this is not doom and gloom prophecy; rather it's a snap shot of the new reality.
Yet this is a time where the strong will adapt and the meek will fade into red ... then into McDonalds for job applications.
Are you adapting to the change or doing the same things you've always been doing?
The definition of insanity: doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. Now is the time to implement new skills and cast away pumpkin style marketing.
