The election is over and the pundits are highlighting the change of party in Congress. What has been missed is two trends among the newly elected that will shape the economy significantly over the next five years. First, the majority of successful candidates seized upon the revulsion of the voters over the waste that permeates Washington. That these were Democrats should come as no surprise as the Republicans have morphed into the party of big government. Second, in virtually every race where globalization was a significant issue (e.g. most of Ohio), the candidate leaning toward protecting our economy from competition prevailed. Ultimately, these strains will matter more for most Americans that party labels or social issues.

John, what impact will the election have on the property prices between now and 2008?
