Getting Caught Up
September 7, 2007 by Allen WrightWe all have Honey-Do-Lists ... some of us have a "honey" that produces our list and others (myself included) are "honey-less" and proclaim "I am my best honey" ... 'Keep Dreaming Allen'. Whichever camp you fall in your remember that the best honey comes from your business. Now that your summer is over you need to get on that list of "honey-dos" and getting cracking on completing various post Labor Day tasks.
1) Update your business plan with the summer results ... you should have been doing this all along but if not, get-it-done
2) Make sure you have a follow-up plan in place to touch all the clients and prospects you made during the summer months ... again, you should have been doing this all along but if not, now is a good time to start. For your existing customers this should be more than just postcards or emails, but some real face-to-face time or at least a call.
3) Make preparations for a fall event for your past clients and sphere. Don't let another year go by saying "I wish I hosted a party for my best customers."
4) Get working on your 2008 Business Plan. This is another project that you do not want to wait until April of next year to start.
For many of us this past year has been tough, learning from our mistakes and analyzing what worked and what did not, will make all the difference. Business planning is a fall sport and should be looked at as the transition from the proceeding year into the new year. By reviewing your business in detail you will learn what areas you spent money wisely and where you can trim your budget next year. You should also be able to look at the activities that produced you appointments and transactions, so you can focus on what works. www.CreateAPlan.com
