Is Agent Team Franchising Feasible?

It is my understanding that one of the benefits of a blogging community is its ability to brainstorm a business or professional concept. To this end I would like to raise the following questions.

We are in the process of designing a process through which agent teams can be franchised.

I am experiencing a challenge getting my head around this project because it has not been my sense that agent teams are a positive contributor to overall brokerage or profitability. While they certainly work to the benefit of the senior agent the special financial arrangements given these teams by most brokers create a unique enterprise zone within the firm that lacks a certain economic realty. In other words would they be so successful if they weren't being subsidized by the brokerage and had to face the same risks and expenses as the brokerage itself?

This opinion notwithstanding I am hopeful that our community might share their collective wisdom relative to both the contributions of agent teams and the feasibility of their procedures being franchised. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Jeremy In my capacity as franchising manager for Canada's largest single owner franchise system I come across many sales representatives who feel that they would be better off on their own. After in depth discussions and the completion of a comprehensive and well thought out business and financial plan it usually becomes obvious that this scenario would unlikely improve the team leaders profitability.
Hi Jeremy, I have thought about the franchising of the team concept as well. My wife and I currently own a team brokerage in Baltimore and have been very successful with it. I believe that their are many advantages to running the brokerage as a team and would enjoy a conversation with you about this.
