Enter the 'Stagent'

Kudos to the stagent who looked her sellers fearlessly in the eyes and announced that she was going to stage their home. First she had the sellers follow a ‘to do’ list of decluttering, cleaning and repairing.  She had them start the packing process and guided them as to how to store their items.

The story inspired me, especially because this is something I’ve always envisioned.

This is the crux of The Power of Staging. That every agent comes equipped with knowledge to guide their sellers as to how best to present their home for sale.  I have this dream that every agent would have readily available a small inventory of staging accessories and would have access to the necessary larger furniture items should the need arise. The story continues that within 24 hours of the sellers completing their tasks, the stagent with her co-stagent daughter, arrived with a carload of stuff (at no extra cost to her client) she transformed the listing into a show house.  With art for the walls, accessories for the kitchen, bathrooms and coffee table and a collection of new towels, the ladies set to work.  She even threw on a tasteful new king size bedspread on the master bed and, voila, the house looked considerably more impressive than the seller could ever have imagined.  This ‘go getter’ agent is popular and successful and is using the downturn in the market to her benefit, and she’s also using her free time wisely.   The story doesn’t have an end yet, at least not the end we expect after staging a home. After 2 weeks on the market and an ever growing inventory of houses available.  competition is stiff and buyers can afford to take their time and be choosy.  Of course the pendulum will swing and house sales will rise again. But right now we all have to exercise endurance and play the waiting game and ensure that all our listings look spectacular. She’s moving with the times and ensuring that her listings all look extraordinary.
